Soccer Conditioning - 30 Minute Soccer Training Session #21

Today we are doing a 30 Minute Training Session. This session will focus on building leg and ankle strength. Equipment Needed: Yourself and a ball! Training Session: O -- 5 Minutes: Warm Up. Jog and stretch doing all the normal exercises like side shuffles, high knees, etc. 5 -- 10 Minutes: One legged hops. Just bounce up and down for 30 seconds on one foot. Then switch to other. Rest 15 seconds and repeat 4 sets. 10 -- 15 Minutes: Squats! Do squats for one minute, then rest for one minute. Do 2-3 sets. 15 -- 20 Minutes: One legged juggles. Juggle on one foot will balancing on the other. This will focus on touch and ankle strength. If you can't juggle well enough to balance long enough then hold the ball on your foot so you get the work in for your ankle. The point of this exercise besides improving touch is getting the muscles in your ankle firing as they are stabilizing your body during this exercise. Juggle 30 seconds then switch feet. Repeat 5 minutes. 20 -- 25 Minutes: Header Jumps! Go for a minute doing little jumps, then every third jump, jump high for a header! Rest for 30 seconds, then repeat process for 5 minutes. 25 -- 30 Minutes: Wall Squats. Put your back against a wall or goal post and squat down. Hold in that seated position for as long as you can. Once tired, rest a bit, then repeat. Do this process for 5 minutes. *If you want to extend the training session time then add on time to any section you want extra work on. *Make sure to finish with cool down and ...

How to do Hop The World

Today we are learning how to do a hop the world or HTW as the cool cats call it! Description: The HTW is a cool trick to do to show off in front of your friends and to practice your skills. You probably will not be doing this in the game. We will learn it from a foot stall. Key Points: 1. Master the foot stall first on your dominant foot. For tips on how to do a foot stall watch my Online Soccer Academy video titled "Soccer Tricks -- How to catch a Soccer Ball on your Foot". 2. Jump with your non dominant foot and push ball up in air with your dominant foot. You do these two motions at the same time. 3. Non dominant foot does an around the world motion around ball in the air and then you juggle. Exercise Player Can Do: Start off by practicing the motion of the Hop the World without the ball. Once you have the motion and the timing down do the HTW from the Foot Stall. Repeat until you master it! What Player Could Be Doing Wrong: If you can't get your leg around the ball you are pushing the ball up to high. This trick doesn't require a big touch in the air, a small touch works great. If you can't balance the ball long enough on your foot to attempt this trick then stop working on the HTW and focus on catching and holding the ball on your foot. Once you can hold it for 5-10 seconds with ease, then try the HTW. Bonus Tip! Doing the HTW from juggling is more challenging. I'll make a video for it in the future but for the most part the same key points apply. It's all about ...

Soccer Defense - 30 Minute Soccer Training Session #20

Today we are doing a 30 minute training session focusing on soccer defense. Equipment Needed: As many balls and cones as you have. Session: 0-5 minutes: Warm up, Jog and stretch doing all the normal exercises like high knees, side shuffle, etc. 5-10 minutes: 1v1 Simulation practice. Set up two cones, a start cone and end cone. Place your ball next to your end cone. At the start cone, sprint to the ball, imagine you are closing down an attacker. Set your feet and jockey back in proper defensive positioning. Take small steps, not big ones. When you get back to the start cone, rest a few seconds, then repeat. Do 7 sets, rest 30 seconds and go again. 2-3 sets total. 10-15 minutes: Passing and receiving. Being a great defender also means being a good passer of the ball. Set up two sets of cones to be your imaginary teammates. Pass the ball off the fence, check your shoulder as the ball comes back to you, then keep your body open to the field, take a good forward touch and pass to your target. Repeat until you use all your balls. Then get them and repeat for 5 minutes. 15-20 minutes: Defending Fast Attackers practice! Make sure you watch my Online Soccer Academy video titled "How to Defend Against Fast Attackers" in order for this exercise to make more sense. Set up a start cone and an end cone about 15 yards behind you. At the start cone stand goal side of your imaginary attacker. Pretend their midfielder is about to play a ball over the top for their attacker to run onto ...

Soccer Fitness - Soccer Workouts

This soccer fitness, soccer workouts video will teach you an exercise on how to improve stamina for soccer. It's one of my conditioning drills for soccer. Description: The point of this exercise is to get your heart rate up during the sprint, then bring the heart rate down during the break. The quicker you can recover between runs, the fitter you will become! Before you do this fitness exercise make sure you are properly warmed up. Exercise Player Can Do: Set up two cones 30-40 yards apart. Depending on your current fitness level give yourself 10, 15 or 20 seconds to get to the cone on the hard run. Then rest for an equal time. For example purposes I'll do 15 seconds. 15 seconds hard run to top cone, rest there 15 seconds, then 15 seconds hard run back to first cone. Down and back is 1. Rest and repeat 5 times. Bonus Tips: For extra fitness shorten times or increase reps. Fitness in the game isn't everything but it certainly helps. Having said that make sure you have a good balance of fitness and ball work in your training schedule. Don't just do all fitness.Create your free profile, record your soccer game reviews, track your soccer juggling records and watch more OSA soccer training videos at www.OnlineSoccerAcademy.com.
How to Beat a Defender - Mental Soccer Help

When learning how to beat a defender there are many different soccer dribbling drills you can do. The most important of all drills and skills is the mental part of how to beat a defender. Everyone could use soccer help on their mental game. Description: I recently did a video asking for video suggestions and this was a popular suggestion. What should your mind set be to beat a defender? The game is 90 percent mental. Meaning if you believe you can do it because you work hard at your game to improve then you can do it! If you lack confidence, your game will suffer. Key Points to Mentally Beating a Defender: 1. Make a Decision! When approaching a defender in the attacking third make a decision to take them on or not. If you decide to take them on, then stick with that choice. Don't doubt your gut feeling. 2. Believe 100% in your mind you will get by the defender. Don't "hope" to get by or count on luck. You are a good player, with good skills, use them and do your thing! 3. If you lose the ball, so what! Instantly forget about the mistake and hustle back on defense, win the ball back and the crowd will applaud you for your work rate. For tips on actual physical moves to get past a defender sign up for OnlineSoccerAcademy.com and then click the "Attacking" category on your profile for attacking videos. What Player Could Be Doing Wrong: If you find yourself doubting that you will get by defenders when you go to make your move you are doing it wrong mentally. Believe in it ...

Today I'm excited to announce the 2nd annual OSA World Juggle-a-thon which will take place on World Malaria Day April 25, 2012. You can easily participate anywhere in the world you have a soccer ball! Last year we raised 7000 dollars and saved 700 lives. This year we want to save more! Every 45 seconds a child in Africa dies from a malaria infection - a preventable disease carried by mosquitoes. We can help. This is why we created the OSA World Juggle-a-thon, a worldwide fundraiser put on by OnlineSoccerAcademy.com to support the Nothing But Nets campaign. Nothing But Nets is a global, grassroots campaign to save lives by preventing malaria, a leading killer of children in Africa. Through this campaign, anyone can donate just $10 to purchase a bed net, deliver it to a family, and educate them on its proper use.
Soccer School - How to Create Space in Soccer

Knowing how to make a good soccer run or soccer runs is important. One of the many skills for soccer. In this Online Soccer Academy video you are learning how to create space in soccer. Think of it like soccer school! Description: Creating space is important. Each level of the game you move up you have less and less time and space on the ball. So the more you can do to create space and time for yourself on the field, the more successful you will be. Key Points: 1. Take a Defender one way, then go the other! 2. Run behind the Defender, not in front of them, so they can't see you. 3. When the defender turns their head to look for you, that's when you cut back in the opposite direction. 4. This movement can be a few steps or a big run. It all depends on the situation. Equipment Needed: Ball, five cones and a partner. If you don't' have a partner use a wall or fence or simulate this exercise without someone passing to you. Exercise Player Can Do: Set up three cones a few steps apart from each other in a straight line. Then place a fourth cone five yards to the side of those cones and a fifth cone 10 yards ahead of the fourth cone. Your partner stands 10 yards ahead of the three cones. You stand on the edge of the three cones. Imagine in a game these cones are one defender marking you. Now make a movement, behind the cones, to create space, open up to the fourth cone, receive the pass and dribble to the fifth cone. Repeat 10 times, and then switch your partner. Repeat until ...
