Report: Chinese Security Chief Zhou Yongkang Forced to Hand Over Power

For more news and videos visit ☛ english.ntdtv.com Follow us on Twitter ☛ http Add us on Facebook ☛ on.fb.me Zhou Yongkang, China's powerful chief of domestic security, has been forced to hand over control of the police and court system, according a report in the Financial Times. The report sources unnamed senior Communist Party members. According to those sources, Zhou Yongkang has been forced to hand over day-to-day control of the Political and Legislative Affairs Committee to the current Minister of Public Security, Meng Jianzhu. Zhou's defense of his would-be successor, former Communist Party official Bo Xilai, was the reason given for Zhou's loss of power. Zhou still retains his position on the 9-member Politburo Standing Committee, the highest ruling body in the Chinese Communist Party. The Chinese Communist Party strives to maintain an outward appearance of stability and uniformity to the public. But factional infighting came to a head earlier this year, with Zhou's faction on the losing end. At the end of this year, a scheduled reshuffling of power within the Party will see Zhou stepping down, along with current Chinese leader Hu Jintao. According to the reports, Zhou has been denied choosing his successor. A source also told the Financial Times that Zhou was forced to make a "confession" to his colleagues about his error defending Bo Xilai, after Bo's career-ending scandal. This kind of group confession has been used since the Cultural Revolution to demoralize ...

Tony Chan is at the center of controversy over the will of his former lover, Hong Kong billionaire Nina Wang. Hong Kong feng shui master Tony Chan left court on Monday after the first day of a preliminary inquiry on forgery charges. Chan is the former lover of late Hong Kong billionaire Nina Wang, and had been trying to gain control of her entire fortune—4 billion US dollars. Yet a court ruled in 2010 that a will which left Chan with Wang's entire fortune was a forgery. An earlier 2002 version of the will, in which Wang left the majority of her wealth to charity, was deemed valid. Chan has been on bail of two and a half million dollars, yet was forced to surrender his travel documents and remain in his home in Hong Kong's Peak district. His lawyers are seeking a stay of proceedings, claiming that the will has been so altered by tests already carried out that any further forensic testing is impossible, local media RTHK reported. The hearing has now been adjourned until Thursday May 17.

[Michelle Walker, Handler]: "Every year we have a different letter, this year its the letter E. It was obviously the Queen's Jubilee, so it was quite easy to pick one out this year, so she got the name Elizabeth." She said Elizabeth's mother Lottie was doting on her new charge, despite initial problems. Lottie didn't manage to feed Elizabeth immediately after she was born and park staff were forced to step in with a bottle. Luckily, the 3-year-old Bactrian camel Lottie managed to feed Elizabeth the following day and the infant is now being doted on by her proud mum in the camel enclosure at Yorkshire Wildlife Park.

Luckily they were off the meter in the 20-year-old black London cab named "Hannah", which they shipped from the first leg of the trip in Sydney, February 2011, to San Francisco—driving from the west to the east coast, through parts of Mexico, Israel, Eastern Europe, Spain, France and finally home to England on May 11. Interxion are operated out of London and the prospect of transport chaos during this summer's Olympics prompted the investment in the emergency sleeping quarters. Richard Warner is Interxion's marketing manager. [Richard Warner, Marketing Manager Interxion]: "Due to the nature of our business we need to make sure our customers' computers are running all the time 24/7. For example if there was congestion on the lines and an engineer couldn't get in, then their computers could go down and we just cannot allow that to happen." The scheme is going down well with employees too. Kyle Byott is an engineer at Interxion and welcomes the change. [Kyle Byott, Engineer]: "It's a great idea if I'm stuck at work—which hopefully I won't be—but if I am stuck at work it means I'll have somewhere to stay for the time being." Transport chiefs are predicting long queues in at least 20 of the capital's Tube stations during the Games. The full extent of the problem won't be known until the Games gets underway in July. Ina Calottaschwarz is a practitioner of Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that started spreading in China 20 years ago. She's from Germany, but today she's in New York to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the practice. Ina recalls her first experiences doing the Falun Gong exercises. [Ina Calottaschwarz, German Falun Gong Practitioner]: "It was unbelievable, goose-pimples all over my body. I've never felt those feelings of strength before." Other Falun Gong practitioners speak of similar experiences. "Now I never have any worries, and I feel very light when I walk." And great changes in their lives. "When friends see me, they see I have completely changed, my complexion is great and my spirits are up. So they say that this Falun Gong is so great." But today they are celebrating in America not China, because since 1999 the Chinese Communist regime has carried out a systematic persecution against Falun Gong. This persecution has led to over 3000 deaths from torture. [Ina Calottaschwarz, German Falun Gong Practitioner]: "It's a hard challenge for us, I would say, to keep clear in mind and to keep good thoughts while hearing this unbelievable cruelness that is happening in China." Cruelty that Yue Changzhi personally experienced in China. [Yue ...

Eased Restrictions on Registering Rights Groups Faces Skepticism

For more news and videos visit ☛ english.ntdtv.com Follow us on Twitter ☛ http Add us on Facebook ☛ on.fb.me The Chinese Communist Party's Civil Affairs Ministry has said in a Monday press conference, they have now eased restrictions on registering political, human rights and social groups. But the chair of the Social Democratic Party of China says his political party won't be registering. [Liu Yinquan, Chair, Social Democratic Party of China]: "I think they have just set up some internal regulations that say whether a group can register or not. They certainly won't approve all groups' applications, like our Social Democratic Party of China. They'll label it as a hostile force that is against the Constitution. We'll just be given a list of excuses why we can't register." And it seems this may be the case. A reporter asked an official if political or human rights groups will be able to apply for registration. The answer - political and human rights groups are not the focus of the change. The necessity of the group's registration will also be reviewed. Before the change, groups wanting to register had to be attached to a specific working group. Liu Yinquan describes the existence of a "blood-debt clan," represented by CCP leaders Jiang Zemin, Zeng Qinghong ...
