Serve and Volley Tutorial - Video 3 of 3: First Volley Technique

www.essentialtennis.com Serve and volley has become more and more difficult at the pro level but it is still a VERY viable strategy at the recreational level! How can you be successful using it? In this video I will share key 2 of 3 hitting your first volley (typically called a transition volley) as effectively as possible. I'm going to show you the top 5 keys to hitting a solid transition volley: 1. Initiating the shot by stepping onto your outside foot. 2. Making a solid unit-turn to set up the racket. 3. Making contact with at least a slightly open face. 4. Having soft hands at contact. 5. Actively transferring your weight through the shot. This is a jam-packed video lesson full of technique keys. If you can implement them successfully then the quality of your first volley will increase dramatically!

Novak Djokovic Backhand and Volley, Slow Motion - HD Quality

www.essentialtennis.com Here's a few clips of Novak Djokovic drilling his backhand approach shot and net skills with fellow countryman Zimonjic. I find it extremely interesting (and inspiring!) that even though being successful at the net has become so difficult in the professional game, and the baseline is where most points are won and lost, Novak is still taking the time to sharpen this part of his game during a practice session. Definitely a lesson to by learned for recreational players!
